10 Common Bra Mistakes We Make, And How To Fix Them

If your bra struggle is real, you are likely all too familiar with these bra mistakes you’re making. That feeling when you walk into your house, take off your bra and commit to staying in for the night. Women are making so many mistakes when it comes to their bras, from buying them to maintaining them.

Here are some of the most common mistakes made when it comes to bras, along with how to correct them.

1. Wearing a bra that isn’t suited to your boob shape.

Let’s say you have a tubular or settled breast shape (this is the average shape breast, so don’t think you’re alone) and you insist on wearing a push-up style to get some volume. This isn’t always the right choice for your shape! A seamed, structured, underwired unlined bra may be just want you need to create fullness, but ensure you don’t have gaping at the top of the cup.

2. Wearing a bra when the band rides up your back.

The back band of your bra should always be level to the floor. It shouldn’t have a ‘wave’ effect on your mid back nor should it ever be higher than the underwire in the front.

3. Washing your bras in the washing machine.

Not only can heat/machine washing damage or disfigure your bra, it can also wear on the color. Try this lingerie cleaning technique to make sure you get the most use out of your bras!

4. Keeping a bra for way too long.

If you really love something, you have to let it go. Well, kind of. There isn’t one bra in existence that will be by your side for eternity. Fabric is a fickle thing. If you take care of and wear a bra correctly, your bra should last for around 9 months. Buy the same bra in multiple colors and rotate them!

5. Wearing a bra that doesn’t fit.

Just because you made the purchase, it doesn’t mean you need to settle. It can be trial and error, especially if you’re shopping on your own. Use a bra fitting guide and make sure you get that bang for your buck.
